The Amstel Gold Race is a one day cycling race for professionals, held in the Netherlands. The race is an annual event that has been held in the South Limburg hills since 1966. It is considered one of the European classics and its part of the UCI WorldTour.
The Amstel Gold Race is a race of twisting and turning, climbing and conquering many of the hills and slopes, often more than once. Some of the most important hillsides in this race are the Cauberg, Keutenberg and Eyserbosweg. After having been relocated from Maarssen to Maastricht and back many times, the finish line has been moved to the top of the Cauberg in Valkenburg since 2003, which is only 3 kilometers from the hotel.
Besides the professional Amstel Gold race there is a tour version open to the public. There will be six different distances to be cycled in 2014, of 65 kilometers, 100 kilometers, 125 kilometers, 150 kilometers, 200 kilometers and 250 kilometers respectively.
